About Downscale

Downscale is an Australian telehealth clinic for weight and metabolic health, led by nurse practitioners and available in every state and territory. It exists because most people arriving at weight care have already been told to eat less and move more, several times, by people who did not look for a reason it was not working.

Obesity is recognised clinically as a chronic, relapsing condition with biological, hormonal, psychological and environmental drivers. Treated as a willpower problem it produces the cycle most of our patients describe: loss, regain, and a bit more shame each time. Treated as a medical condition it becomes a question with an answer, and the answer is different for each person.

How we work

Assessment first, plan second. A full history, the medicines you take, your sleep, your mood, your patterns, and pathology where it is useful — then a plan built around what that shows, reviewed as your life changes. Telehealth is what makes the reviews practical: the follow-up matters more than the first appointment, and follow-up is the thing people stop doing when it means taking a day off work.

There are no premises and no waiting room. Consultations are by video or phone, and the fees are private, prepaid and published on the pricing page.

What we give away

Seven screening tools, a body composition calculator, a pathology list you can take to your own GP, and a set of explainers on the conditions that most often sit underneath weight that will not move. None of it requires an account, an email address, or a booking with us. Why can't I lose weight? is the place most people start.
